Eddie C. Cooley's Obituary
Mr. Eddie C. Cooley was born July 22, 1948 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to the late Eddie Lee and Ida Mae Cooley. Eddie grew up in Hattiesburg where he attended Hattiesburg public schools. He attended Bishop College in Dallas TX from 1969 to 1973, where he received a degree in Political Science and American History. Eddie joined the Hamilton Park United Methodist Church in which he served as a Layman. When he retired from the IRS after 34 years, he started on a new journey of serving the homeless after finishing D. Edward Johnson Theology School. Eddie’s love for the Lord and desire to do more to serve Him came with encouragement and support from his wife Teresa. In 2000 he started the Carpenter’s House Church 2000 Ministry until his health begun to fail him in 2007. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Lee and Ida Mae Cooley, sisters Bobbie Nell Smith, and Carolyn Phillips and Brother Eddie D Cooley all of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Teresa Cooley, one sister Minnie King and one brother Michael Cooley, both of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, some special friends and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 12 PM in the Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home with a reception held one hour after the service. The Repast will follow after the Memorial at Restland.
