Edith Faye Phillips “Meemaw”, 91, of Dallas, Texas was welcomed to her forever home in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, in Dallas, Texas. She was born on, June 18, 1928, to her parents Roy G. and Janie Erphy Burgess in Quitman, Texas. Edith married the love of her life Calvin C. Phillips on April 18, 1948 in Dallas, Texas and they had a love like no other for over 71 years. She was a quiet, loving, and caring woman. She dearly loved her family and her friends. Edith was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church for 72 years. She was a member of Meadow Gate Garden Club and Cosmos Review Class.
Edith is survived by her husband Calvin C. Phillips of Dallas, Texas, daughters Gwen Williams (Wilson) of Garland Texas, Pam Rothermel (Charles) of Garland, Texas, and Jan Howell (Bobby) of Dallas, Texas, sisters Geneva Venable of Kemp, Texas, Janice Olson of Grapevine, Texas, Lillie Lee of Grand Saline, Texas, and brother William Burgess of Quitman, Texas, grandchildren Stacey Denny (Reade), Angie Krowka (Kyle), Kelly Vickers (Jarred), Julie McCauley (Ryan), Rachel Thiel (John), Philip Rothermel (Sarah), Brandon Rothermel (Adria), Mark Howell (Alyx), great grandchildren Brittney Boyd (Brad), Brooks Binnion, Brenna Binnion, Kaden Krowka, Karson Krowka, Kayleigh Krowka, Kasey Krowka, Kinley Vickers, Abigail McCauley, Cameron Vickers, Patrick McCauley, Luke Thiel, Jack Thiel, Adley Rothermel, Mason Rothermel, Bria Rothermel, and Parker Rothermel, and great great grandchildren Hudson Williams, Colt Boyd, Copelynn King, and Lex Woodruff.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother James Roy (Bud) Burgess, grandson Bryan Williams, and great granddaughter Madison Rothermel.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2019 from 4:00 p.m to 6:00 p.m at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on December 23, 2019 at Bethel Baptist Church located at 9314 Ferguson Rd. Dallas, Texas 75228. The burial is in Salado, Texas.
