Edna Vedith Ragsdale's Obituary
RAGSDALE, EDNA VEDITH Friends and family mourn the passing of Edna Vedith Ragsdale, who joined her beloved husband of 59 years, Harold Ragsdale, in heaven, on February 25th, 2008. Born in Chandler, Oklahoma December 1st, 1911, Edna relocated to the Dallas area along with her sister, Martha, brother, Vernon, and beloved mother, Maggie Evans in the mid 1920’s. She attended Forest Avenue High School followed by her marriage to Harold Ragsdale in 1934. Edna and Harold Ragsdale were among the first residents of the Piedmont section of the Pleasant Grove area of Dallas in 1954. Her love of home making, cooking, and gardening was ongoing at that home for more than 54 years until restricted by her recent illness. Her unpretentious lifestyle and high personal values reflected those unique qualities so often found in persons that struggled, as did she and Harold, through the depression era years of the 1930’s and who therefore more fully appreciate the blessings of life today. Edna is survived by a brother-in-law, Eugene Ragsdale of Gun Barrel City; a niece, Linda Jean Evans of Dallas; and a nephew, James L. Segroves and wife Mildred of Garland. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday, February 28th at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas. Services will be conducted by Rev. W. W. Baker, Interim Pastor at The Urban Park Baptist Church where Edna and Harold Ragsdale were long standing members.
