Edward Ray Cardwell's Obituary
Edward Ray Cardwell was born on July 29, 1931 in Dallas TX. After graduating from North Dallas High School he enlisted in the United States Air Force and advanced to the rank of Staff Sergeant.While on a trip with his buddies in Florida, he met a gorgeous woman, Lorraine Philips, who was with her friends on a vacation. The two quickly felt a connection and began corresponding with long distance letters. They decided to wed as soon as Edward returned stateside after being stationed with the military in England. On November 1, 1952 Lorraine and Edward were married at Immanuel Evangelical & Reformed Church in Cincinnati Ohio when their marriage of 65 years began together. They then moved to New Mexico where Edward was stationed and Lorraine was expecting their first child. After their son was born, they moved back to Ohio to settle down to raise their three children, Jeffrey, Gary and Sharon. Edward was a devoted husband and father as they made moves to Texas, Arkansas, Georgia and back to Texas as he advanced his career in sales management with the Kraft, Merico, and El Charrito corporations. Edward loved fishing and could often be caught on a local golf course. Once retirement arrived, Edward enjoyed seeing friends and family, adding to collections while shopping and traveling, and doting on his wife.Edward is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Beatrice Cardwell, his wife Lorraine, his sister Bobbie Sue Long, his daughter Sharon Hahs and son Jeffrey Cardwell. He is survived by son Gary Cardwell and wife Cindy of Springdale, AR, grandson Braden Hahs and wife Sarah of Rhome, TX, granddaughter Megan Godfrey and husband Daniel of Springdale, AR, grandson Matt Cardwell of Dallas, TX, grandson Brad Cardwell of Fayetteville, AR, and granddaughter Jacey Cardwell of Dallas, TX. He was blessed with five great grandchildren: Kason, Zuzu, Korbin, Cale and Jude.Family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Restland Funeral Home 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas, 75243. Interment will take place at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 22, 2019 in the Restland Memorial Park. Memorial services will commence following the interment at 2:30 PM at the Arapaho United Methodist Church, 1400 Arapaho Road, Richardson, Texas 75080.If desired, a memorial contribution can be made to or in lieu of flowers to Arapaho United Methodist Church Methodist Men or Arapaho United Methodist Church Youth Ministry.
