Dr. Edward Joseph Esposito's Obituary
Edward Joseph Esposito was born September 10, 1950 in Brooklyn. His passing on May 18, 2013 was entirely too soon. Ed was lead to the Lord and baptized August 29,2010 at First Baptist Church of Dallas, changing his life forever. Predeceased by his mother Josephine Arciero, father Anthony Esposito, brother Robert Esposito, and sister-in-law Patricia Esposito. He is survived and loved by his wife Rosana Green Esposito, daughters Amy Green and Jennifer Green, nieces Mary Ann Wingrove, Donna Oberle, and Christina Rohlmeier, and nephew Robert Esposito Jr. Ed held a Ph.D. in applied physics from Harvard University, and a B.S. and M.S. in physics from Polytechnic University (Brooklyn, NY). He was a Woodrow Wilson National Fellow. Ed spent many years in research then management and government/university/and industry relations. Finally, he returned to the nest…the university. He taught, was assistant dean in the UTD school of Engineering and Computer Science, took a special interest in helping students, and got great pleasure from the company of his co-workers. Ed loved talking with people. Particularly, sharing his stories…sometimes many times, as anyone close to him knew. His great Harvard friends and experiences were often the focus. He had an amazing ability to stand and speak to a group of two or two hundred with the same ease. This extended to his personal ministry visiting those in the hospital and praying with his brothers-in-Christ when they were in need. It was never a task but his gift. He was never in the military due to a heart valve problem. But, he was consumed with the lives and accomplishments of those who were. Ed had many heroes both living and gone. He had a special passion for the brave pilots of WWII and spent many hours studying the lives of these men and their planes. “The hobby”, as he and his wonderful friends called their interest, then involved reproducing the planes, in scale model, with amazing accuracy. Of course, it required regular Saturday morning Starbucks visits with the other devotees. He was a loving husband and was loved by his family. Being married to him was a blessing and the pain of losing him immeasurable. His last 2 years of illness were a challenge but he never ceased loving or being loved. As he lived reaching out to others, in his death he will be missed in kind. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 23, 2013 in Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, May 24, 2013 in Restland Memorial Chapel. 1 Thes. 4:13-18: Don’t grieve as others who have no hope; dead and alive will meet the Lord in the air and will always be with Him.
