Edward John Schulte's Obituary
Edward John Schulte (92) died Monday, December 4, 2017 at 11:30am. Ed was born in Beckemeyer Illinois on February 10, 1925 and was the only child of Joseph and Irene Schulte. At the age of 5, the family moved to St. Louis where he was raised attending Catholic Schools.At 18, he enlisted in the services during WWII. The year was1943. He served as a Navy Medic on the USS St Mary and was one of the first ships to arrive in Tokyo Bay after the peace treaty was signed with Japan.Returning home in 1946, he met the love of his life Rose. They were married on December 27, 1947. Ed & Rose initially lived in St. Louis Missouri but moved to Dallas Texas in 1948.Ed started his own retail business being the first Maytag Home Appliance Center in Dallas and became infamously known as “Old Lonely”. He maintained that business until his retirement in 1987. During his retirement years, he loved working in the yard, bowling, playing cards and dominoes, fishing, travelling and especially spending time with family.Ed & Rose joined Prestonwood Baptist Church in 1989 where Ed accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He was also a member of Bible Study Fellowship for several years along with Rose, Emily and Amy.Ed is preceded in death by his parents Irene and Joseph Schulte and daughter Emily Elizabeth Schulte Axtell. He is survived by wife Rosa Lee Unger Schulte, daughter Amy Schulte, son-in-law Robert Axtell, grand-daughter Monica Axtell Tan and spouse Shen Tan, Aaron Axtell and wife Christy, great grandchildren Ian and Aria Tan, Erica and Elise Axtell.Ed & Rose would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on December 27th, 2017.He will be remembered fondly by many as a generous and kind man devoted to his Lord Jesus Christ and his family.There will be a graveside service at 2:00PM, on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
