Mr. Edward Pierre Thompson Jr.'s Obituary
THOMPSON, EDWARD P., JR., C.P.A., 98, passed away December 2, 2006 in Dallas. Born in Brownwood, TX August 7, 1908, he attended public school in Goldthwaite, TX, where he graduated with honors in 1925. His parents moved to Brownwood where he attended Howard Payne College for one year and Daniel Baker College for three years, receiving a B.A. degree. He later took post-graduate work in law and accounting at the University of Texas in Austin. He is a retired partner in Grant Thornton Company, an International firm of Certified Public Accountants, headquartered in Chicago, IL. He is preceded in death by his wife, Juanita; parents; two brothers; and a sister. He is survived by son, Edward P. Thompson, III of Dallas; his daughter, Ethelyn Thompson Bertino and her husband, Michael Bertino, MD of San Antonio and their children, Brent, Rebecca, Kent, and Kirk Bertino. After graduation from college he taught high school classes in Miles, TX and Brownwood, TX. Near the beginning of WWII he accepted service with the Internal Revenue Service in Dallas. Upon becoming a Certified Public Accountant he opened his office as an individual practitioner in Dallas. He was active as teacher and administrative work in three Dallas churches. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 16, 2006 at Restland Memorial Chapel. Interment to follow in Restland Abbey Mausoleum.
