Edward Wuermser's Obituary
WUERMSER, Edward (Ed) of Richardson, died June 28, 2017. Born on February 10, 1932 in Baltimore, Maryland to Ludwig Wuermser and Katherine Thau Wuermser. Edward attended Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and graduated from the University of Maryland in 1960 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering. Ed proudly served in the Army during the Korean War. When he returned, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth Ann Pierce, on July 31, 1954, whom he had known since the age of four. The two had three daughters, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. They moved to Richardson in 1968 where he later founded Ed Wuermser Associates, a manufacturers representative firm. Ed was a man of many names. He was Sweetheart to his wife, Daddy to his girls, Granddad and Opa to his grandchildren. He was Eddie to extended family and friends. He was Captain on his boat and Mr. Fixit in his workshop. He was a family man and would light up a room with his bellowing voice and beaming smile. He always said that family was the most important thing, that without family, you have nothing. That was the way he lived his life. Ed was happiest when surrounded by his family. His favorite things included dancing – whether at the Sokol Hall or around the family living room – working in his workshop, volunteering with the Korean War Veterans, or sailing his boat, the Windy Too, on Lake Texoma. He enjoyed singing his favorite songs with those he loved until his final days. Ed is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Elizabeth Ann, as well as his three loving daughters, Ann McKinley (Mike), Theresa Dickson (Mark), and Lisa-Ann Wuermser (Keith Thuemmel); his grandchildren and grandchildren-in-law, including Katie McKinley Schlieve (Max), Michael McKinley, Patrick McKinley, Catherine Dickson Riggle (Scott), Matthew Dickson (Lauren), Rebekah Dickson, Thomas Dickson, and Christopher Priebe; and his beloved great-granddaughter, Hadley Jane Schlieve. Edward is preceded in death by his parents, Ludwig and Katherine Wuermser; sister, Margaret Dusterhoff and brother, Lou Wuermser; and his great-grandson, Hudson John Schlieve. Services will be held on Friday, June 30 at 3:00 p.m. at Abbey Chapel at Restland. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Juliette Fowler Communities (https://fowlercommunities.org/), One Wing Foundation (https://www.onewingfoundation.org/donate), and the North Texas Veterans Administration Hospital (https://www.northtexas.va.gov/giving/) will be accepted in Edward’s memory and appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
