Elmer Elven Aycock's Obituary
Elmer Elven Aycock of Garland, Texas was welcomed into Heaven on Sunday, August 5, 2018. He was a patient at the T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care Center for two days when God called him home at the age of 95.Elmer was born on October 3, 1922 in Tahoka, Texas to Joel Aycock and Martha Barber Aycock. He helped his mom and dad on their farm as he was growing up. He married Irene Dunlap in Lubbock, Texas on May 30, 1942. They had 60 wonderful years together before God called her home. Together, they raised one daughter.Elmer served 21 years in the United States Air Force. He received 5 Battle Stars and many medals as he served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired on February 1, 1969. Elmer then worked and retired from the U.S. Post Office after 15 years.In 2010, Elmer married LaWanda Brimmage Fox, while being long-time members of Orchard Hills Baptist Church. They were together for eight wonderful years.He is preceded in death by his wife, Irene; wife, LaWanda; son, Elven; his parents, Martha and Joel Aycock; one sister, Flossie Levacy; two brothers, Joel and Calvin Aycock; and grandson, Elliot Davis.Elmer is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Mike McCollough of Garland, Texas. Grandchildren: David and Sheri McCollough of Boiling Springs, South Carolina; and Teri and Marcus Stanski of Garland, Texas. Great-grandchildren: Ty Mccollough, Stefani Stanski, Elizabeth McCollough, John McCollough, and Kaden Stanski; sister, Mary Houston; sisters-in-law, Retha Aycock and Patsy Dunlap; and many nieces and nephews.Elmer loved the additional family he gained when he and LaWanda married. They include daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Gary Robertson, Monda and Bill Hafley, and Kristal and Dean Davis. Grandchildren: Laurel Emrick Gonzalez and her husband, Jhoccio; Brian Emrick, Jr.; Evan Davis; Gina Ingrassia and Family; and Jamie Rogers and family.He was a loving husband, dad and papa who led his family by Christian faith and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.In lieu of flowers, if you would like to donate to Special Ones Network, which was very dear to dad’s heart, please contact Kristal Davis at kristal@specialonesnetwork.com
