Elmer Loyd Robinson's Obituary
Elmer Loyd Robinson, 89, died Friday, May 13, 2011 in his home at Southridge Village in Conway, Arkansas. Mr. Robinson was born September 24, 1921 in Dublin, Texas, the son of Oscar and Florence (Yandall) Robinson. On December 21, 1940, he married Helen Hagan, his childhood sweetheart, in a double wedding ceremony with his brother, Dean, and Helen’s sister, Fay. A lifelong member of the Southern Baptist church, he was a deacon, taught men’s Sunday School classes and sang in the choir for many years. In 1951 he began work with the Post Office at Snyder Texas, and then moved his family to Mesquite in 1954 where he lived until near retirement from the U.S. Postal Service. With a move to Star Harbor, Texas in 1971, he became Postmaster at Trinidad where he retired in 1979. He leaves his soul mate of 70 years, Helen (Hagan) Robinson; his son, Jim Robinson and wife, Jo Lynn of Conway, his daughter, Linda Brendle and husband, David of Emory, Texas, four grandsons, ten great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Fay Robinson, Grace Cummins and Ella Mae Taylor and many nieces & nephews. Elmer touched many lives with his exemplary work ethic, his gentle manner and his dry wit. Memorial services will be held at Restland’s Wildwood Chapel at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, May 17; visitation from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Mr. Robinson’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
