Elvin Blackburn Appleby Jr.'s Obituary
Elvin was born on April 25, 1927 in Springfield, Missouri. A graduate of Adamson High School and he attended Arlington State College (U.T.A.). He served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1947 aboard the U.S.S. New York. He was employed by Otis Engineering for 38 years, retiring in 1992. After retiring until present he worked part time at Gary’s Cars. He was an avid golfer, a longtime member of Schreiber Methodist Church, and a die hard Texas A&M fan. He was loved by everyone who knew him, and was a devoted family man. Preceded in death by father, Elvin B. Appleby, Sr., mother, Bernice Appleby, and brother, Bob Appleby. Survived by his brother Paul Appleby of Tyler, TX, his wife of 57 years, Sue Appleby, his son David Appleby and his wife Vicki of Frisco, TX, his daughter Nancy Bell and her husband Mike of Irving, TX, and his grandchildren, Alexa and Chase Appleby of Frisco, TX. Services will be held at Schreiber Methodist Church, Monday, December 28th, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will begin at 10:30 A.M. Graveside service immediately following at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, TX.
