Emily Sue Rogers' Obituary
Emily Sue Rogers joined our Lord on November 27, 2009. She was born in Dallas January 17, 1938, and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She was a member of First Baptist Church Dallas for 65 years and taught in the beginner department for many years. She taught at Dallas Christian Academy and First Baptist Academy for 27 years. She possessed a unique ability to teach students study skills which many said helped them succeed in high school and college. Her favorite book of the Bible was Proverbs. She often used passages from Proverbs in her teaching. She lived and exemplified the life of the “Proverbs 31 Woman”. She had the pleasure of teaching her three children and a niece and a nephew. Emily also was a member of the Dallas Model A Ford club and enjoyed many friendships there. Touring Europe in their Model A was a trip of a lifetime. She also sailed on an Alaskan Cruise for her 50th wedding anniversary. Emily is survived by husband of 52 years, Max Jerry Rogers, children Laura (Ron) Carroll of Sunnyvale, Carrie (Roger) Smith of Arlington and Jeff (Dannah) Rogers of Sunnyvale. She is also survived by five grandchildren (Dane Carroll, Cara and Aaron Smith and Camden and Cason Rogers), nieces and nephews, brother Sam Warner of Long Beach, CA and sister Patsy Weatherford of Dallas. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Visitation Monday from 6 – 8 pm at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 12:30pm in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Dallas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Building Fund at First Baptist Church – Dallas. Proverbs 31:10, 28-29 A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her; Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.
