Emma Jean Behnke's Obituary
Mrs. Emma Jean Behnke, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, in Mesquite, Texas. She was born to Mr. Dillard McDonnold and Ms. Ethel (Lawson) McDonnold on Monday, January 5, 1931, in Yowell, Texas. She was the first born of the two children. Jean attended Pecan Gap High School. After graduation she began her 37 and half year career as a drafter for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. On September 4, 1953 Jean married the love of her life Herbert Behnke. In 1988 she retired, Herbert and Jean began to travel and enjoyed life together. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical and Reformed Church in Dallas, Texas.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Behnke; parents, Dillard and Ethel (Lawson) McDonnold and brother, Dillard McDonnold Jr. She is survived by her sons, Michael Behnke, David Behnke; granddaughters, Emma Behnke, Taylor Behnke Gonzalez and great-grandson, Jesse Gonzalez.
Jean will be remembered by those who knew her as loving, humble, respectful, and giving. She leaves her loved ones with unforgettable memories and loving stories.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 24, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Emma Jean Behnke are scheduled on Monday, July 25, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Pecan Gap Cemetery 305 Mayo Street Pecan Gap, Texas 75469.
