Faye Elizabeth Thompson Files
Faye went to be with the Lord Wednesday morning, December 1, 2021 at the age of 98. She was born on November 14, 1923 in Gorman, Texas to Winnie Ellen Pritchard and Thomas Albert Thompson and had one younger brother James Edward. She wed her high school sweetheart and the love of her life Leo Marcel Files September 19, 1942 and they were married 73 years. They are survived by two daughters Linda Ann Nazir of Mansfield and husband Sarfaraz and June Elizabeth Browne of McKinney and husband Gary, along with grandchildren Nafisa McGarrahan of Tyler & husband Chris, Shahzad Nazir of Arlington, Shazia Lackey of Athens and husband Will and Grant Browne of Arlington & husband Julius Solis, and great-grandchildren Cole, Lane, Cana, & Boaz Morris and Cooper & Emmett Lackey, nephew Jim Thompson & wife Marty, niece Marilyn Rollins, niece Sandra Joiner & husband David, and nephew Frank Files & wife Jody.
Faye worked several years as a secretary and then was a full-time homemaker. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she was a faithful Christian, loving and serving her family, friends, neighbors and church family. She & Marcel raised their family in Dallas; she spent countless hours sewing, gardening, cooking, and baking. She was active at Northway Baptist Church for decades, working in the Women's Missionary Union, teaching Girl's Auxiliary & 2"' grade Sunday School, and serving as co-librarian. She was active in the DeGolyer PTA, a gardening club and a book club. She and Marcel played 42 and bridge regularly with friends. Later she attended First Baptist Church of Farmers Branch. The last 6 years she lived with her daughter June and enjoyed reading, word puzzles, and embroidering.
Special thanks are given to Rum bi Musakas, caregiver for 3 years, Betty Williams, caregiver, and Care plus nurses, aides and delivery. Their kindness and loving care made her latter years more enjoyable and comfortable.
