Frances Geraldine Hammond's Obituary
HAMMOND, FRANCES G. Born on June 30, 1930 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Paul Francis Lewis and Margaret Irene Hanegan Lewis. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on November 23, 2010 following a brief illness. Frances married her high-school sweetheart, Charles William (Bill) Hammond, on December 24, 1949, during his freshman year at the University of Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents and by Bill, her husband of 47 years, and daughter, Sally Elizabeth Hammond. She is survived by her daughters, Suzie Timmerman and husband, David Timmerman; and Phyllis Houx and husband, Greg Houx; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Frances spent most of her life as a homemaker and raising her family. She and Bill traveled extensively after their children were grown and enjoyed many friends. She was a member of the Richardson Garden Club. She loved gardening, nature, birdwatching and being outdoors. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano and also the staffs of VNA Hospice and Caring Companions. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00pm on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held at 12:30pm on Monday, November 29, 2010 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org
