Mr. Fred M. Misko Jr.'s Obituary
Passed away comfortably at his home on Tuesday morning, September 4, 2007. Fred was born in Texarkana, Texas on September 23, 1942. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in 1964 and then received his LL.B./J.D. in 1968. He was certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Civil Trial Law and Personal Injury Law and the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Fred practiced for over 30 years in Dallas, Texas handling legal matters throughout Texas, the United States, and Internationally. Fred was a pioneer, author, and a nationally recognized authority on class actions, trial techniques, courtroom technology, and video re-enactments and brochures. One of his many published works includes “Misko On Class Actions.” He was a visiting professor at the University of Texas – Austin Law School lecturing on Class Actions, a subject about which he also lectured at Rutgers and other major law schools throughout the nation. He was a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, where he served as Continuing Legal Education Chair; the Dallas Chapter of the American Board of Trial Attorneys, where he served as President; the Dallas Bar Association; and the American Association of Justice. He participated for the Citizens for a Qualified Judiciary and co-chaired the committee which raised funds to install teleconferencing facilities in courtrooms in the Dallas County District Courthouse. Fred continued to enjoy his passion for the law by remaining active in his law practice up to the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred M. Misko, Sr., and Grace Misko. Fred is survived by his wife, Karen Misko; daughter, Morgan Michelle Misko; and sister, Marilyn Misko Duhon. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at the Restland Wildwood Chapel and then a celebration of Fred’s life will follow the service at the family’s home at 5:30. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, P.O. Box 910888, Dallas, Texas, 75391-0888, in honor of Dr. John D. McConnell.
