Gail Marie McDonald's Obituary
Gail Marie McDonald passed away peacefully at home in Dallas on Friday, April 28, 2023, at the age of 65. Gail was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1998, and fought its effects with strength and courage for 25 years.
Gail was born in Dallas on July 25, 1957, the daughter of Frank and Eileen Pieczynski, natives of Chicago who had recently moved to Dallas. By virtue of Gail's birth in Dallas, she received Native Texan status, a fact she proudly shared.
Gail graduated from J. J. Pearce High School in Richardson in 1975. She was proud of her selection as Senior favorite as she was fond of reminding her family members. As the effects of M.S. took their toll, Gail ruled her world with her unique brand of toughness. She was a fighter, as her family and caregivers will attest, to the end.
Gail is survived by her husband, Steve, sisters Mary Dyer (Bill) and Beth Pieczynski (Bruce) of Dallas; brothers Alan Piecynzki (Linda) of Hinsdale, Illinois; Mark Pieczynski (Reba) of Richardson, and David Pieczynski (Gayla) of McKinney, Texas, sister-in-law Susan (Michael) of Brush Creek, TN, and Dave (Deb) of Shreveport, LA, along with many nieces and nephews who were dear to her.
Gail was predeceased by her parents and brother, Craig Pieczynski.
The family would like to extend a special word of thanks to the numerous healthcare workers and caregivers who went above and beyond the call of duty throughout the course of Gail's care.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 2 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a donation to Operation Kindness in Carrollton.
