George Austin Cox's Obituary
COX, GEORGE AUSTIN passed away July 28, 2012 in Richardson, Texas peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the age of 95. Austin was born in Bradford, Arkansas to Moffit A. Cox and Effie A. Durham on March 5, 1917. He enjoyed hunting squirrels and fishing on Sunday mornings with his father. He went to elementary school in Bradford and High School in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He moved to Dallas in 1938 and met the love of his life Vivian Janette Broyles. They were married at the Tyler Street Methodist Church June 28, 1941, and were together continuously for the 66 years prior to her passing in 2007. Austin served in the Army during WWII and was a member of the 11th Airborne MP’s. Following the war, he went into the insurance, finance business as a young collection man, and worked his way up to owner. He is survived by his son Johnny Cox his wife Heidi Cox and grandson Jason Cox; son Jack Schell, his partner Jennifer Young and grandsons Jason Schell and Nick Schell;brother Robert M. Cox and sister-in-law Beverly M. Cox. A memorial service will be held at Wildwood Chapel, on Monday July 30 at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
