It is with great sadness that the family of George Edward DeFore announces his passing. George, of Athens, Texas, was 86 years old when he passed away on April 19, 2018, surrounded by his loved ones.Burial, with a moment of remembrance, will commence at Restland Memorial Park on April 28, 2018, at 4:00 pm. Arrangements are by Restland Memorial Park.George was born in Waxahachie, Texas to William DeFoore and Vivian (Byrum) DeFoore on February 8, 1932. He married Shirley DeFore on December 8th, 1973. They spent more than 40 years loving and supporting each other. He was a veteran of Vietnam War and served in the Air Force. Following his military service, he worked in the Federal Reserve Bank in Dallas, Texas.George is preceded in death by his parents, William and Vivian DeFoore; brothers Willie Lee DeFoore (November 7, 2015,) Olen Dale DeFoore (September 13, 2017;) sister Billie Crane DeFoore (May 6, 2010;) and dear friend Vincent Auzene (September 10, 2013).He is remembered with love by his wife, Shirley DeFore; his daughter, Yvonne Hyde; step-daughters Kathy Coleman, Norma Flores, Ruth Alonzo; daughter-in-law Alice McGiness; son-in-law Larry Coleman; step sons Gary Albers and Jim McGiness; grandchildren Catrina Hurwitz, Dawn Brewster, and Brandi Coleman; grandson-in-law Sam Hurwitz; and dear friend Bob Hanger.Memorial Donations may be made to The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, ASPCA (https://www.aspca.org/.)
