George Wesley Hensley's Obituary
George Wesley Hensley of Mesquite, Tx. passed on Christmas Day, December 25, 2022. George was born June 11, 1951 in Texarkana and was raised in Genoa, Arkansas where he graduated from Genoa Central High School. George and his Dad constructed and built the family’s beloved business Pebble Beach, a swimming pool establishment, with a membership of 8,000 and the governor named the nearby community Pebble Beach after this swimming pool establishment they created. His career began working for Cotton Belt Railway, which later became Southern Pacific in Dallas, where he started his family with his then wife Renē. He later went on to work at Town East Ford where his warm and captivating personality moved him to the title of top salesman in record time.
Anyone who encountered George was quickly taken by his charm and became an instant friend. He was quick to lend an ear and piece of advice to those who needed it. He had an infectious laughter and always had a smile. George developed a love for inventing, writing, winemaking, playing the guitar and restoring Harleys. He was an outstanding self-taught guitar player. (Patsy Cline was a 2nd cousin). George adored his kids and his face would light up when he spoke of them. George was a very loving a caring husband and father.
George spent the last 5 years of his life with his wife and long-term friend Candy who resides in their home in Mesquite.
He is preceded in death by his parents George and Alma Hensley and long-term partner Deborah Martin. Survived by his wife, Candy, a BFA graduate of NTSU, his son Mathew Hensley, MD, and a marine veteran and daughter in law Tamara of Wynnewood, PA, son Mitchell Hensley, an army veteran, of Mesquite, Texas, and his grandchildren Carina, Logan, and twins, Landon and Liam. As well as his brother Daniel Hensley and sister-in-law Betty of Fouke, Arkansas along with their many kids and grandkids.
A visitation will occur on January 9, 2023, from 6pm - 8pm and the Restland Funeral Home as well as a Celebration of Life at 1:30pm on January 10, 2023, at Wildwood Chapel at Restland Memorial Park.
