George Harvey Worthington's Obituary
WORTHINGTON, GEORGE, Beloved husband, father, and friend lost his battle with Alzheimer’s, but regained his dignity on February 22, 2008. Born May 25, 1918 in Coatesville, PA. He was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army and served in North Africa, Normandy, and central Europe during WW II. After the war, he and his wife, Marione, moved to Texas. George is preceded in death by his devoted wife, Marione, his parents, and his brother. He is survived by his daughters; Georgene Moon, Diane Worthington and partner Kris Kober, Ilene Havey and husband Peter, Elissa McClain and husband Gary; grandchildren, Christina Mullen and husband Jason, George McClain, and Lindsey McClain; great-grandsons Johnathan, Justin, and Joshua, as well as nieces, nephews, and his very dear friend Mattie Carson and her family. George worked in the liquor industry and retired late in life. Even though he was not born in Texas, he developed a love of cowboy boots and bolos. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Association or the American Cancer Society. Our family would also like to give a special thanks to the staff at Golden Acres who made our father’s last days much easier.
