Gloria Thelma Avard's Obituary
Gloria Thelma Avard, 95, of Plano, Texas passed away Friday, June 1, 2018 in Dallas, Texas. She was born on August 30, 1922 to Laurence Green and Frances Green in Harrogate, England. Gloria married George Avard on April 14, 1941 in Harrogate, England. She was a hairstylist for many years, and she owned two salons in Harrogate and later in Dallas. Gloria was a member of Plano Art Association. She lived in Texas for 54 years but nothing could replace her love for her homeland of Yorkshire, England.She was an accomplished artist until she lost her eye sight, loved animals, wanted to be the center of attention, and had a quirky sense of humor. Above all she loved her family. We will all miss her so much.Gloria is preceded in death by her husband, George Avard; son, John Avard; and grandchildren, Douglas Avard and John Phillips. She is survived by her daughter, Angela Morrison; grandchildren to whom she was know as Nana; John Avard, James Avard, Stewart Morrison, Christina Raecher, Gillian Woodmansee, Andrew Avard, Tanya Campbell, and Stephanie Holmes; seven great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.There will be a funeral service for Gloria held on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 beginning at 12:30PM in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Following the funeral service there will be a reception in the Restland Event Center, located at 9220 Restland Road, Dallas, Texas.Funeral arrangements have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 13005 Greenville Ave, at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243, and can be reached at (972) 238-7111.
