Gloria Wheeler Karlak's Obituary
84, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 11, 2007. She was born on November 11, 1922 in Shelton, CT and attended Boston University. While raising a family in Orange, CT, she pursued her passion in real estate and in 1970 became a member in the Million Dollar Sales Club. She and her family moved to Dallas, TX in 1973 where she continued her successful career until 1976. She was an avid bridge player for 64 years and relonged to several bridge clubs in Dallas; one special group having lasted over thirty years. She believed in keeping the mind active and was a voracious reader and loved traveling and history. She enjoyed volunteering for the North Dallas Food Bank, and the Clothes Closet at her church. She had a fun-loving spirit, an outgoing personality and a sense of humor that will be missed. She took great pride and joy in her children and grandchildren and was surrounded in love by her husband and three children during her passing. She is survived by her husband Michael Karlak, her children Jim Karlak of San Antonio, Cindy Engles of Dallas, Judy Storholt of Plano, and grandchildren Allison Karlak and Kara Karlak, both of San Antonio. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at Restland Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 4:00pm at The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration on Hillcrest in Dallas, Texas, with a reception at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration.
