Glorine Batte's Obituary
Glorine “Gloria” Emily Batte passed from this life on Monday, November 29, 2010 at a Mesquite,Texas hospital following a lengthy illness. Gloria was born July 3, 1930 in rural Caldwell, Texas, the third of seven daughters born to Emil Joe Valigura and Annie Antonio Slovak Valigura. She was baptized July 14, 1930 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dime Box, Texas. On October 16, 1946 Gloria married Lawrence “Larry” Luellyn Batte, Jr. in Rockwall, Texas. They were blessed with two daughters, Jackie Marie and Tonie Sue, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In addition to being a wife, mother and homemaker, Gloria worked for the Borden Company in Dallas, retiring in 1990 with 34 years’ service. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jackie Marie Heerdt of Mesquite; grand daughter and grandson, Sheryl Lynn Heerdt and Richard Lawrence Heerdt of Mesquite; and sisters, Anna Mae Zaidle of Mesquite, Janie Burgess of Bristol and Mary King of Irving. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Larry Batte of Mesquite; daughter and son-in-law, Tonie Sue and Harvey Harrison of Lake Way; grandson, Ryan Sprinkle of Dallas; granddaughter, Melody Garrison of Savannah; great grandsons, Graham Ashton Garrison and Noah Grant Garrison of Savannah; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline and Albin Vrana of Sunnyvale, Ruby and Jerry Gerrling of West and Virginia and Edward Muelstein of Abbott. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Gloria enriched the lives of those who knew her. She will be truly missed and loved until we meet her again.
