Gordon Spencer Hodgkins' Obituary
HODGKINS, GORDON “PETE” SPENCER Born December 20, 1924 in Greenford, England and passed away December 7, 2011 in Irving, TX. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Alice Naomi and James Edward Hodgkins. He is survived by his daughter, Anne Valerie Hodgkins of Scottsdale, AZ; oldest twin son, Peter James Hodgkins of Irving, TX; beloved grandfather of Michelle Andrea Williamson of College Station, Maxwell Hodgkins of Dallas, TX, Kerry Anne Hodgkins of Breckenridge, CO and Sean Michael Hodgkins of College Station, TX; cherished great grandfather of Katelyn and Spencer Williamson. During WWII, Gordon served in the British Navy helping to liberate Italy and was part of the Normandy Invasion forces. With his wife Violet and daughter Anne, he began a new life and immigrated to the US in 1951. In 1954, Violet and Gordon welcomed twin sons, Pete and Paul into the family. Gordon became a truck driver working for Red Ball and Motor Freight. Working for Red Ball he was a significant influence helping to organize the local union. He was a lifelong teamster, avid reader, gardener, beloved friend and long time supporter of the Irving Family YMCA. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Irving Family YMCA, 2200 W. Irving Blvd, Irving, TX 75061, 972-986-8898.
