Gordon MacDonald's Obituary
Gordon MacDonald, long-time Richardson, TX, resident, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 9:17 PM on Monday, May 30th, 2016. He was 98. Born in Cambridge, Mass August 19th, 1917, he spent early years in Lyonsbrook, Nova Scotia, returning to Boston at age 7. He attended Mechanic Arts High School in Boston and following high school prepared for the ministry at Gordon College in Boston, successfully completing the MDiv program there. In 1942 he married Betty Jane Brinker and together they had two boys, Bruce and John. In fulltime ministry in Massachusetts and Arizona from 1946 to 1964, he pastored six Baptist churches. A skilled machinist, he pursued full-time employment with Texas Instruments in 1964 but remained active as a lay minister, and continued sharing the gospel with everyone he met for the rest of his life. He was an elder emeritus at Trinity Bible Church in Richardson. There and elsewhere He loved to play hymns on the musical saw and placed joyous telephone greetings when anyone he knew had a birthday or anniversary. Gordon loved to join with those ministering at the Dallas Union Gospel Mission or in the Texas prisons, sharing his music and gospel message with all. Above all his life’s goal was to share the love of Christ with as many people as possible. Gordon was predeceased by his bride of nearly 52 years in 1994. He is survived by his sister Jessie and family of Laguna Niguel, CA, sons Bruce and wife Anne of Carrollton and John and wife Marsha of McKinney, three grandsons Dan and wife Donna of Murphy, Andrew and wife Cory of Richardson and Kevin and wife Shannon of Allen, and seven great grandchildren Ian, Lily and Finnlay of Richardson and Kate, Campbell, Peyton, and Jack of Allen. Visitation will be from 3:00PM – 5:00PM at Restland Memorial Chapel on Sunday, June 5, 2016; Memorial service will be held at 11:00AM at Trinity Bible Church on Monday, June 6, 2016. There will be a private interment service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. Donations may be made to Trinity Bible Church at 400 West Campbell Road in Richardson or to Dallas Theological Seminary at 3909 Swiss Avenue, Dallas, TX 75204.
