Harjit Singh Dhesi's Obituary
Harjit Singh Dhesi, a man who underwent untold trials and tribulations to provide a safe haven for his family. Family was at the forefront of all his actions and decisions. He was a father figure not only to his own children but to his sprawling extended family inclusive of all of his nieces and nephews.
Harjit Singh Dhesi came to the United States in 1983 with little money but a grand vision for a more vibrant and secure future. He worked 3 jobs and through amazing sacrifice and commitment he built very successful businesses and was the patriarch of stabilizing a foundation for many family members. The dozens who have been able to settle, owe it to him. He will be dearly missed yet forever remembered.
He was a stalwart to not only the DFW community over the past many decades but his presence was felt and known globally. His pen would speak truth to power and highlight the Sikh psyche and struggle. He is survived by his wife - Ranjit Kaur Dhesi - and 3 children - Harjot Kaur, Gursimran Singh and Gurjap Singh, his brother Gurmail Singh Dhesi and family, his sister Baldev Kaur Ghumman and family, and nephew Gurwinder Singh Dhesi.
Many times you could also see him preparing langar or helping with photography and videography sewa for Gurdwara events. His calming demeanor and presence will be missed by all who have been impacted, known or interacted with him.
