Harold Dean Davis Sr.'s Obituary
Harold Dean Davis Sr., a long-time resident of Garland, Texas, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2014 in Dallas, Texas at the age of 86. Harold, or known as “Papa” to his family, was born on January 10, 1928 in Gamerco, New Mexico to John Carmel Davis and Sarah Leona (Nicoll) Davis. He married his sweetheart Dorothy E. “Honey” Davis on December 27, 1949 and they were married 52 years before her passing. As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Harold and Dorothy served as temple workers in the Dallas Texas Temple from its dedication in 1984 until 1994. Harold enlisted into the United States Army Air Corps which later became the United States Air Force and was awarded a Purple Heart during the Korean War. He retired after 30 years of service as a SMSgt, and soon afterwards, he and Dorothy moved to Garland to be closer to their family. He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy and a great grand-son Kirklyn Sleigher. Harold is survived by a daughter, Deloris E. Joseph and son-in-law Robert Joseph who live in Georgia; a son, Harold D. “Mex” Davis, Jr. and his wife Alicia Davis who live in Michigan; and a daughter, Debra Davis Pointer who lives in the metroplex. He is also survived by his special son and daughter, Carl and Karen Smith of Garland, He is survived by 28 grandchildren and 39 great grand-children. A graveside service and Dedication of the Grave will be held at Restland Memorial Park, Dallas, Texas in the Chapel Gardens Mausoleum on Friday, September 12, 2014 at 10:00 am.
