Harold Bert Kernodle Jr.'s Obituary
KERNODLE, HB Born October 14, 1942 in Dallas, TX to Harold and Lois Kernodle; passed away December 18, 2007. He was a loving and selfless father, grandfather, son and brother and an inspiration to all. His grandchildren adored him. HB has been a fixture in the Dallas baseball community for decades, especially as a coach. He spent the last number of years maintaining Reverchon Park’s baseball field, helping run multiple adult leagues, and helping find schools for college-level baseball players. He also built and maintained baseball fields around the area through his company, Sports Fields of the South. Through his words, example, leadership, and passion for baseball, he has inspired generations of young men. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Kip and Cecilia Kernodle; son and daughter-in-law Kelly and Lauren Kernodle; daughter and son-in-law Kathleen and Michael Diamond; sister Nina Farley; grandchildren Elizabeth, Joseph, Robert, and Caroline Kernodle; Margaret Kernodle; Madeline, Gabrielle, and Nicco Diamond. Service will be at 10:00AM Friday December 21 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9635 Ferndale, Dallas, Texas 75238. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that any donations be made either to Scottish Rite Hospital or Friends of Reverchon in the name of HB Kernodle.
