Hazel Bird's Obituary
BIRD, HAZEL went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 5, 2012. Hazel (Black) Bird was born in Dearborn, Missouri on October 30, 1905. She was preceded in death by her parents; Thomas and Harriet Black, Sisters: Nan Sloan, Vertie Dean, Blanche Anderson, and her husband Uhel C. Bird who died in 1974. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Ann (Bird) Byrd, her son-in-law, Larry R. Byrd, two granddaughters; Deborah Lynn Price, Husband, Philip Price, Julie Ann Brigman, Husband, Boyd Brigman and four great grandchildren, Cole and Christi Brigman, and Keith and Brett Price. Hazel graduated from Dearborn High School and Northwestern College in Maryville, Missouri. She was a school teacher until she met and married Uhel Bird on December 24, 1927. They spent their career with Prudential Insurance Company moving and living in twenty-seven cities. Uhel retired from Prudential as Senior Vice President of the Southwestern Region, Mortgage Loan Division in 1970. Hazel was active in both Houston, and Dallas Bible Study Fellowship, Nursing Home Visitation, taught Sunday School and was an Outreach Leader at Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas. Hazel went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She lived a life wrapped in the love of Jesus. She would have us remember one thing; know Jesus, live, walk, trust and rest in Him. Her family cherished the memories of her faithful love for all, which was rooted in Jesus’ faithful love for her. A memorial service will be held in Ellis Chapel at Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas on Monday, January 9th at 2:00 Pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Park Cities Baptist Church, 3933 Northwest Parkway, Dallas, TX 75225.
