Herbert L. (Bill ) Fletcher's Obituary
Bill Fletcher passed away peacefully on December 16, 2022 at the age of 93. He was born in McGregor, TX in 1929. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1947 – 1949. He eventually moved with his family to Garland, TX. He worked as a Purchasing Agent for Wholesale Electronics for 30 years. On his retirement, he served as the custodian at Axe Memorial United Methodist Church, where he had been a faithful member since 1963.
Bill was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed his family, listening to music, and serving others how ever he could. If you ever met him, you likely left with a pocket cross or a peppermint. He wanted everyone to know that God loved them and he wanted to try to make their day a little better.
Bill is survived by Barbara Holding Fletcher, his wife of 72 years. He is also survived by his sons, Allen Fletcher and his wife Angie; Mark Fletcher and his wife Cindy; and Scott Fletcher and his wife Jennifer. Bill is survived by three grandsons: Tim, Alex, and Jordan. He is also survived by four granddaughters: Alyss and her husband Rick Dean; Holly and her husband Chris Ellis; Chelsea and her husband Brad Wisdom; and Courtney and her husband Robert Davidson. Bill was blessed with six great grandchildren: Lee Fletcher, Landon Ellis, Makayla Ellis, Lillian Ellis, Zoey Dean, and Hattie Wisdom. Bill is also survived his sister-in-law Betty Fletcher and her sons Tom, Larry, Patrick, and John and their loving families.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Thomas Fletcher and Nealie Keltner Fletcher, his sister Maudie Mae George and his brother Clavius Fletcher.
Visitation will be held at 1pm on Monday, December 26th at the Wildwood Chapel on the grounds of Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas Texas. Funeral Service will begin at 2pm, and internment will follow on the grounds at Restland.
