Herbert Charles Wood's Obituary
Wood, Herbert C., born April 10, 1929, passed away on April 23, 2016. He was a native New Yorker and a resident of Dallas since 1982. Upon graduation from high school in 1946 at the age of 17 he joined the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Cambria and the USS Bexar until 1950. He subsequently graduated from New York University with honors. He retired from Caltex Petroleum Corporation in 1993 after 20 years of service and was a member of the American Bell Association. He was a devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Patricia, his parents Percy C. and Dorothy Wood, and brothers George and Richard and sister Joan Vogt. He is survived by son Gary Wood and wife Kathy of Swayzee, Indiana and their children Ryan Wood and wife Kelly, David and Danielle Wood, great grandchildren Owen, Alexander and Elliot Wood, and daughter Karen Klopfer and husband John of Southlake,Texas and their children Andrew and Matthew and numerous nephews and nieces. During his lifetime he tried to live his life in accordance with the Golden Rule. He will be missed and dearly remembered by his many family members and friends. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to The Salvation Army.
