Herman Lee Truitt's Obituary
Herman Lee Truitt, 92, of Dallas, TX, passed away September 30, 2017, at Diversicare of Lake Highlands. He was born September 21, 1925 in Abilene , Texas to Lee and Mary Belle Chisholm Truitt. He Graduated from Abilene High and enlisted in the Army Air Force serving in World War II, trained as a radar and electronics technician and served at various bases in the United States. He then Attended Texas Tech on the G.I. Bill majoring in electrical engineering. After graduation he was employed by Convair of Fort Worth installing electronic equipment on the B- 36 aircraft under military contracts. He joined Motorola in Arizona in 1954 as a engineer in government electronics, working on programs having to do with deep space. He helped build the first GPS equipment that was flown. Herman had two loves of his life, Helen Vaden Truitt, to whom he was married for 53 years, and with whom he had three children: Robert Truitt (Susan), of Scottsdale, AZ; Darrell Truitt (Wanda),of Mesa, AZ; Susan Truitt Brumley (Lyndel), of Phoenix, AZ, who survive him; along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his wife of 20 years, Joy Vaden Truitt; and three step-children; Cynthia Vaden, of Dallas, TX; Grant Vaden (Deborah), of Hurst, TX; and Laurel Vaden Malley (Rick), of Long Beach, MS; and by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Friday, October 6 from 6-8 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 7 at 10 AM in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland, with the Reverend Andy Roberts officiating. Contributions to hurricane relief efforts are suggested in lieu of flowers.
