Homer Lou Clemmons Ledford's Obituary
LEDFORD, HOMER LOU CLEMMONS went to claim her reserved seat in Heaven with Robert on Saturday morning, February 9, 2013. She was born in Paducah,Texas to Homer Leach Clemmons and Luttie Magnolia (Clark) Clemmons. She grew up in Paducah and graduated from Paducah High School in 1945. On January 27, 1946, she married Robert Dale Ledford and they made their home in Paducah. Working for M. E. Moses in Paducah, she transferred to Woolworth in Bisbee, Arizona. After leaving Arizona, Homer Lou and Robert moved to Garland, Texas. Homer Lou started work for Kroger Foods in Human Resources opening Kroger Stores and training employees. She was instrumental in starting Kro-Dal Credit Union now known as Southwest Financial and was chairman for several years. She retired from Kroger in 1990 after 30 years service. Homer Lou and Robert enjoyed traveling after retirement with friends and family. She was a member of American Business Women’s Association and was nominated Women of the Year. She was a charter member of the “Jonathan Class” and worked in the church office. Her greatest enjoyment was cooking and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her sister, Emma Jean Hutchings (Clemmons); brother, George Weston Clemmons “Bud” and his wife, Ardith; sister-in-law, Wanda Clemmons; 29 nephews and nieces, 57 great and 25 great great . Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brother, John Robert Clemmons. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Orchard Hills Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
