Irene Belle Peeples' Obituary
PEEPLES, IRENE BELL FERGUSON passed away peacefully Monday morning November 26, 2012. Irene was born in Memphis TN , where her father was a carpenter and farmer. Irene’s father, Papa Ferguson, and her brothers, lived in various towns throughout TX, AK, and TN. Early in Irene’s childhood her family moved from Arkansas to Texas in a horse and buggy. It was there she met and married her husband, Raymond Peeples. While living in Ft. Worth, TX Irene and Raymond welcomed their baby son, Bobby Ray. In the early 1940’s the Peeples family moved to Lubbock, TX where they owned a retail variety store and several successful Drug store/soda fountains. In the late 1960’s Irene and Raymond moved back to Ft. Worth, TX with Irene going to work at Leonard’s Department Store and later working for Dillard’s for over 30 years until she retired at the age of 82. When Raymond passed away from Alzheimer’s at age 74, Irene moved to Tyler, TX to be closer to her brother and other relatives located in the Tyler area and lived independently until she was 98. For her last two months she became a resident of the Cottonwood Residential Care Home run lovingly by Maria and Pavel Nicoara who provided her with exceptional care in a lovely home setting. Irene dearly loved her entire family as well as her precious cockatiel, “Little Chicken”. She is survived by her son, Bob, daughter-in-law, Vicki and grandsons, Mark, Matthew and Greg. A memorial service will be held AT 12:00 PM, Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Restland Abbey Chapel with an interment time of 2:00 PM at Laurel Land Cemetery, Fort Worth, TX.
