Mr. Jack Harvey Carson's Obituary
Jack Harvey Carson, 95, of Emory Texas, died June 14th, 2023, surrounded by his family.
Jack was born on May 25th, 1928, in San Antonio Texas. His parents were Leslie and Lucinda Carson. He was the youngest of three, with two older sisters who have predeceased him.
Jacks’ family moved to Dallas where he attended Highland Park High School and graduated from what is now UT Arlington.
He served in the United States Air force during the Korean War. He was ordered to serve as a forward observation scout and spent much of the war within a stone’s throw of the North Korean lines.
After his discharge in 1953, Jack returned to Dallas and sold life insurance and worked at Sears for a time. He found his true calling as a salesperson in the building materials industry. Jack partnered with several of his colleagues and founded Sunbelt Molding. After a successful run, the company was sold to DW Distribution where he embarked on his next chapter as the top salesperson for many years. He retired at the age of 82 to give the rest of the sales force a fighting chance. He was highly respected by his customers, whom he considered to be his life-long friends. He mentored many of the salesforce at DW and many attribute their success to him as well.
Jack’s favorite hobby (besides pulling practical jokes) was fishing. He fished in Hawaii, Canada, and Costa Rica. His love of fishing lead to his move to Lake Fork in Emory Texas. His personal best was an 11lbs 9oz, big mouth bass caught when he was 87.
Jack was an avid gardener and grew beautiful plumeria plants by the dozens. Besides being a gardener, he was an accomplished baker. We owe him for our expanding waistlines and high cholesterol.
Jack was predeceased by his wife, Bobbie Jeane Carson and granddaughter Jessica Lord.
Jack is survived by his daughter, Nancy Carson Stein, her husband Dennis Stein, of Plano, TX, Ron Rhoades, his wife Connie, of Dallas, and Cynthia Clark and Linda Lord of McKinney, TX.
Seven grandchildren, Zack Stein, Jessica Stein, Bill Rhoades, Stephanie Williamson, Ty Clark, Angela Machin and Olivia Lord. He was also blessed with 8 great grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday, June 23 at 10:00 am in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, Texas. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5-7pm.
