Wanting to do what was best for his family, Jack decided to move to Garland and join long time friend and Rice classmate, Glen Walls in partnership at Davis Walls Insurance Agency. He would spend the next thirty years growing this business until retiring as founding partner of Davis Dyer Max in 1999. During these years he was active in Rotary Club, both locally and internationally, and served as a deacon at Orchard Hills Baptist Church. Jack and Nell later joined First Baptist Garland where they were active members until Jack moved to Rockwall.
Jack and Nell were blessed with three children, Stan, Sherrie and Steve and were so proud of the adults they became. These three grew into a much larger family of 25: Stan, his wife Kim, their children Erin, her spouse Chase Nichols, and their children Reese, Harper, Drew, JD, Tanner, Molly and Abby and Chase Davis, his wife Amanda, their boys Wesley and Wyatt;
Sherrie, her husband, Keith Anderson, their daughter Amanda and her spouse, Ronnie Bailey;

Jack worked hard but also enjoyed many hobbies in his leisure time. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and took up the game of golf later in life. He and Nell had the pleasure of owning two of their homes on a golf course. He also loved to camp, snow ski and scuba dive. Jack and Nell enjoyed traveling, both abroad and across the United States with their RV club in Georgetown.
Jack is preceded in death by wife Elizabeth Nell; parents, Ruth and Lennie Davis; brothers Johnny Davis, and Don Davis.
After the death of his wife, Elizabeth Nell, Jack made his home with his daughter Sherrie and her husband Keith, where he spent the remainder of his days happy and well cared for.
