Jack Tracy Walton's Obituary
Jack Tracy Walton, 79, of Dallas, Texas, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2026, in Dallas. He was born on October 15, 1946, in Dallas, where he was raised and spent most of his life.
Jack was the beloved son of the late Arden Lee “Jack” Walton and Pansy “Peggy” Mauney Walton. He attended Lon Morris Jr. College from 1964 to 1966 and went on to build a career in real estate. He began his professional journey at John Ross & Associates Real Estate in Highland Park Village, where he met the love of his life, Marie Hartt. Together, they shared more than 50 years of marriage and continued working in real estate throughout their lives with Jack also working at the Dallas Central Appraisal District.
Jack was selected as one of the Outstanding Young Men of America in 1984. He also dedicated his time and leadership to several professional and civic organizations, including the Love Field Masonic Lodge where he attained the title of Worshipful Master, Shrine of North America, and the Texas Association of Assessing Officers.
He was an active and devoted member of First Baptist Church of Plano, where he served on the Stewardship/Finance Committee. He was a faithful member of The Believers Sunday School Class and enjoyed attending church services, Bible studies, and volunteering in church activities.
Jack was a smart, wise, and kind man who valued time with family, friends, and community. He enjoyed traveling, reading, listening to gospel music, playing tennis, and cooking and creating new recipes. He also enjoyed participating in family and youth programs, including Indian Princesses and Girl Scout campouts, reflecting his commitment to mentoring and encouraging the next generation.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marie Walton; his daughters, Susan Williams (Paul), Tracy Koonce (Barry), and Michelle Wiley (Billy); grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Plano Capital Campaign or to the charity of one’s choice.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, February 10, at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Plano, 3665 W. President George Bush Highway, Plano, Texas 75075.
