James Fred Gruben's Obituary
GRUBEN, JAMES F. Was born February 25, 1923 and passed away July 9, 2008 in Dallas, TX. Mr. Gruben served in both the Army Air Corp in World War II, and later as a Colonel in the Army Reserve. In WWII, he served in the Berlin Airlift. He commanded the 20th Army JAG Corp. In 1982, he was awarded the Legion of Merit. Mr. Gruben was an attorney for over 40 years, representing the US Department of Labor, and later the EEOC before practicing law in Plano, TX. He served a term as president of the Federal Bar Assoc., Dallas Chapter. He loved the law and utilized it to right the wrongs that exist in the workplace. Mr. Gruben was a forged document authority. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was active in Scouting, an active church member and leader, and an avid, lifelong photographer. He enjoyed gardening and was proud of his fruit orchard. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Theresa Gruben; sons, David, James and wife Charlene, Michael and wife Linda, Thomas and wife Vickie; daughter, Susan Williams and husband Garry; grandchildren, James, Jennifer, Michael, Michelle and Melanie Gruben. He was preceded by his parents, Henry and Mary Gruben; brother, John Gruben and son, Joseph Gruben.
