James Elmo Morgan's Obituary
James Elmo Morgan, 95, of Bristol, Texas entered into eternal life on August 26,2020 where he was greeted by his heavenly Father and reunited with the love of his life, Betty. James was born in Keltys, Texas, near Lufkin, on March 9, 1925 to Grady L. Morgan and Annie Mae Crawford Morgan Cox.
Following the Attack on Pearl Harbor, James joined the Army at the young age of 17 but quickly transferred to serve in the Navy where he proudly served aboard the USS Pilotfish, a naval submarine. After the U.S. victory, James was witness to the signing of the Peace Treaty in Tokyo Bay. When his time in the Navy came to an end, James served active duty in the Air Force.
On June 18, 1948, James married his childhood sweetheart, Betty Jean Boker and the two made their home in Dallas, Texas. Leaving the Air Force in 1952, James began a long career with Proctor & Gamble as a maintenance electrician earning his Journeyman’s electrician license.
James and Betty eventually made their home in Cedar Hill, Texas where they raised their 3 children. James’ hard work allowed him to retire at the age of 58. He and Betty enjoyed taking college courses and buying and financing land which allowed many people to fulfill their own American dream.
In their later years, James and Betty enjoyed their grandchildren and playing cards and dominos with family. After Betty passed away in 2013, James longed to be with her but filled his time reminiscing about his days as a sailor, continuing his love of playing cards and dominos and using his new found talent of singing to his caregivers at his assisted living center.
James was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Betty, and a host of family members he dearly loved.
He is survived by his children, daughter Pam Morgan of Bristol Texas, and son Mike Morgan and wife, Debbi, of Palmer, Texas and son Danny Morgan and wife Deana of Waxahachie, Texas and sister-in-law Debbie Boker of Conroe, Texas.
