James Edward Neal's Obituary
James Edward (J.E.) Neal was born August 6, 1928 in Levelland, Texas. He was the first of ten children born to Quitman and Ruby Neal. The Lord blessed J.E. with a compassionate heart to care for others. His loving compassion was demonstrated throughout his life by caring for siblings, neighbors, coworkers, and his family. J.E. passed away at 91 years of age on November 17, 2019 in Carrollton, Texas with his family at his side.As a retiree, J.E. continued to be involved and help others. He formed an investment club to educate others on financial investments. He always had a special love for children and a special rapport with little ones. His selfless manner and his love were very much appreciated at Cook Children’s Hospital as he volunteered to help families and children. In his last days, he was still showing concern and compassion for his caregivers.J.E. grew up and worked many long hours on the farm as a child and into his adulthood. He attended Levelland schools and Texas Tech University. He joined the Army in 1951 during the Korean War. Stationed in Alaska, J.E. demonstrated his advanced understanding of mechanical and electrical concepts. He told the story of being given a warehouse of broken radios to repair for the troops and successfully repairing all the radios, emptying the warehouse. After moving to Ft. Worth, he continued using this God-given ability working at General Dynamics and Harris Graphics.J.E. married LaVey Walker on February 14, 1959. He was God’s gift as a dedicated husband to LaVey and a loving father to Monya. He is survived by LaVey, Monya and her husband John, brothers Sam and Bill, and sisters Sue and Doris. Grandson Neal and wife Rachael are the parents of Ava Grace, J.E.’s great- granddaughter. In August of 2019, he celebrated his 91st birthday with Ava celebrating her 1st birthday, which gave J.E. great pleasure.Laying to rest with military honors will be held at the Rolling Oaks Memorial Center in Coppell, Texas.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in J.E.’s honor by visiting www.cookchildrenspromise.org.
