James Frederick Russell's Obituary
RUSSELL, JIM FRED On June 11, 2008, Jim was called home to be with his heavenly Father. He passed away due to complications from brain surgery. He was surrounded and comforted by his family. Jim was born March 2, 1924, to Jim and Lillie Russell in Omaha, TX. He was a descendant of the early settlers of the Omaha area. His love and devotion for his parents in Omaha, never faltered and we can draw strength and comfort from knowing he is with them now, where there is no more pain or suffering. Jim Fred graduated from Omaha High School, Omaha, TX in 1942. After graduation he entered the U.S. Navy during WWII, serving 3 years on a ship in the South Pacific. Afterwards he returned to his beloved East Texas. Shortly after his homecoming, he and his best friend Jack Moore, were flying a small airplane when it crashed. Jim was the sole survivor and spent several years in and out of the hospitals. Although others might have succumbed to the pain and suffering, Jim used this as an opportunity to become even stronger. On July 1, 1985 Jim retired from Dallas Power and Light after 32 years as a customer service representative. It is often said that the true measure of a man is not how many people he loved, but how many people loved him. Jim Russell lived his life with integrity and honor, while giving unconditional love to each member of his family. He is survived by the love of his life, Jean Carter Russell, after 57 years of marriage. He is also survived by his two daughters, Cynthia Russell Doran and Linda Russell; son-in-law, Rick Doran and three grandchildren, Nicholas Nowell, Rachel Nowell and Nick Doran, who he loved deeply. There are no adequate words to describe the depth of our love and respect for our father, husband and grandfather; yet we draw strength from knowing we will all be together again one day.
