James Edward Slaughter 's Obituary
James Edward Slaughter (also known as Jamie, Jim,Dad, Poppa, & Uncle Jamie) age 73, of Plano Texas, passed away April 5, 2020 in Carrollton, TX.
James was born October 3, 1946, in Victoria, Texas to parents John William Slaughter and Cecelia Elizabeth Slaughter.(maiden name Burgess).
James attended Elementary and Junior High schools in Victoria, Texas. He attended Gregory Portland High School in Portland, Texas last semester of Sophomore and Junior year then later attended senior year and graduated from McArthur High School in San Antonio, Texas. He attended San Antonio College and then attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he received his Bachelor of Finance Degree. He spent his career working for Gulf Insurance, where he met his wife Ruth Elaine Slaughter. He also spent years working at Xerox Corporation, and other Sales positions.
To his wife, his four daughters and many grandchildren, he was a fierce protector, a guardian, a math teacher, a tax advisor, a softball and soccer coach, a college enthusiast, a job reference, a handyman, a grill master, a rabbit hunter (in the neighborhood) with granddaughter Hannah, a life advisor, a football enthusiast, a very handsome, wise, loving and intelligent man and mostly a man who asked for nothing and took so little for himself. He always wanted the best for his family and loved them all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cecelia Slaughter, and brother John Mitchell Slaughter (Mickey).
He is survived by his wife Elaine Slaughter, brother Charles Slaughter (Charlotte) of Richardson, TX, daughters Debi Kuykendall (Larry) of Oak Leaf, TX, Kim Lauve of Spring, TX, Tanya Dorsett (Bob) of Austin, TX, and Sheilah McTee (Jason) of Fairview, TX. His grandchildren Craig, Jerry & Cristy Kuykendall, Ashley & Derek Williams, Hannah & Trey Dorsett, Jake & Bethany McTee, nieces Tamara Gunder (Paul) of Southlake, TX, Tara Flinn (Brendan) of Ashburn, Virginia, great grandchildren, great nieces & nephews.
A Memorial Service for James is pending at this time and will be announced at a later date.
