James R. Smith's Obituary
James R. Smith was born June 4, 1939 in Nevada, Texas to Riley and Dora Smith, and died on May 29, 2018 at his residence at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dianna Smith; Daughter Deborah Bennett and family, Matt, Eric and Paige, Sarah and Zack; Son James Robert Smith and family, Monica, Jordan, and Jarrett; as well as countless extended family and close friends. James worked as a mechanic for most of his lifetime and retired from the Dallas Fire Department Maintenance Division in 2004. James “Pop” enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR, the Texas Rangers, and most of all his family.Visitation will be 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, May 31st 2018 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service for Mr. Smith will be at 11:00am on Friday, June 1st, 2018 at Memorial Chapel in Restland Funeral Home with Chaplain Denny Burris officiating. Following the service, there will be a short procession to Restland Memorial Park where Mr. Smith will be laid to rest in the Garden of Love. Then, the family invites you to join them for a reception at the Restland Event Center located at 9220 Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243 (across the street from the funeral home). Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243.
