Jim was a super guy, always laughing and telling a joke. He will truly be missed by all of the ones who knew him. The expressions he could get on his face was priceless. We Love you and will miss you tremendously. Will see you again one day. Tommy and Linda Renfrow
I remember the good times we had traveling in the Mercs . Especially the trips to Okmulgee,Ok. Wonderful memories even when we ended up on the side of the road for whatever reason. I 'm sure Jim,Dick, my James and Jimmy will be having a time up there swapping stories while James and Jimmy are pin striping those chariots. Jim will be missed for sure. Love and comfort to the family.
I remember after Jim got the purple Mercury finished there was a problem with some pushrods getting rounded off on the tips. I pulled the heads off and maybe we had them rebuilt I don't remember. When I was reinstalling the heads I sprayed some carb cleaner on a rag to wipe down the block surface…then I laid the rag on top of the drivers side front fender where it proceeded to eat a quarter size hole down to the primer. When I picked up that rag and realized what I had done my heart stopped. He didn't get mad. He just replied "oh I'll just have this side of the car repainted". I always wondered what really was going through his mind ?? Luckily for me I did follow through and get it running for him. I feel fortunate that I had him as a father in law, as a grandfather to my son, and that I had the opportunity to know him. He will always be missed. Darren Kelley
I will always remember Jim for his wonderful dry sense of humor and his ability to love and be Diane's guy for 63 years. He also was good cooking hot dogs!

I have so much respect and love for the man who's been my Father-in-law for the past 26 years. He was always telling jokes and lived to rib Diane constantly. At Thanksgiving and Christmas, we'd walk in, and invariably the first thing he'd say was, "I've been up all night cooking" or "what did you bring me?" After we'd eat a huge meal, it seems like the kids always ended up in the garage with him just talking and shooting the bull and listening to his jokes and stories. Great memories.
