Jane E. Olson's Obituary
Olson, Jane. Departed this life peacefully on Dec. 5, 2009, at the age of 94. An English major, she graduated from the University of Minnesota with her Bachelor of Arts. She then taught high school English and drama in Mandan, North Dakota, for one year. Jane married the love of her life, R.W. “Bob” Olson, in 1939. During World War II, they lived in the District of Columbia while Bob worked for the War Department degaussing ships. Thereafter they made their home in Dallas, where Bob joined the founding group of what would later become Texas Instruments. Jane was a member of Central Congregational Church, Highland Park Browning Club, and Dallas Institute, as well as a charter member of the Dallas Geological and Geophysical Auxiliary. She served on the board of directors for Dallas Services for Visually Impaired Children and volunteered with North Dallas Shared Ministries. She was preceded in death by her husband and her older sister, Delores Caverly. She is survived by her younger sister, Marge Violette; her son, R.T. Olson; her daughter, Kristine Stewart; and her grandsons, Jeff Stewart and Brian Stewart, along with several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 10:00AM, Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
