"I did it. ....... " NEVER AGAIN"
An amusing story about Jan and John at one of our high school reunions. Jan told us she went to the motel office that morning for something and the young woman behind the counter was rude to her. She got back to her room and got to thinking about it and decided to go back. She said she just walked behind the counter and hugged her. She said she told her, I bet you had a bad morning. The young woman started crying and said she had just broken up with her boyfriend. At that time John spoke up and said "Oh, no, Jan! You didn't ask another one to stay with up, did you?" Jan said, "No, Honey, not this time!" We all just cracked up!
Another story! I asked Jan to be out hostess/MC at one of our class reunions. She said she wasn't sure she could do it. I told her she did it all the time. As you all know, she was the queen of gab. Anyway, she did a fantastic job. The next year, I asked three guys, one from each of our combined classes, to be the hosts/MC's. Before we started, I thanked Jan for her job the year before. I told her it took three men to replace her. She said, "It did, didn't it!" You could have heard her laugh a block away.
I'll always remember both Jan and John! They were marvelous people and fun to be around. We'll all miss them!
So sad to hear of Jan's passing but happy for her to join John in Heaven. She had a wonderful, fun loving spirit. I visited her in the Dallas area & in Austin a few times & will definitely miss our chats. We became friends long ago during a Women's Retreat while both members of First Presbyterian, Dallas, TX. I love the photo of her on the obituary - a huge smile & sparkling eyes. I'll cherish my memories.
Peace, Love & Prayers to all her family.

We moved to Oxford the summer of 1990, welcomed by Dave and Terry & many others in OBF. When Terry’s mom visited her, I was delighted to met Jan! Vibrant, vivacious, and shall I say talkative! For some reason we were driving in my car down Contreras and the siren/lights of local police pulled me over for my FIRST speeding ticket - I’d been jabbering, laughing, totally enjoying Jan’s presence, I didn’t realize my car’s speed increasing. Love you Jan 💕. I wonder if our Tim has been swing dancing with you yet?

Dear Minters,
I will always remember your mom full of life and having fun. She was a great Brownie Troop leader and helped us feel safe to tell her whatever we were thinking or feeling. She made us laugh and ensured everyone participated in whatever we were doing. I remember a Halloween party at your house in Midland where everyone got to bob for apples, and everyone got an apple!
Love to you all, Blanche Overton
Terry, Karen, John & families - Of course, it makes me sad to hear that my dear friend Jan has left us, but I know she is at peace with her Maker. Her obituary is a beautiful expression of the dear, wonderful woman she was - Daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and most importantly, child of God.
I have so many wonderful memories of our many times together, but one very special time actually happened when we were not together. Jan & John were living in Yemen when, "lo and behold," one morning my phone rang and it was Jan calling! I said, "Are you all back in the U.S.?" Jan said, "No, we're still in Yemen, but I was thinking of you so decided to call!" Talk about a friend!
Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers at this time, and Jan will always be in my heart!
With love,
Lucy Croft
