Jeanne Marie Mattison Jones' Obituary
Jeanne Marie Mattison Jones, known as JeJe by family, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2019. She was born August 8, 1930 to J.R. and Ina Mattison. Jeanne graduated from Highland Park High School and SMU where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. It was there that she met Lawrence E. Jones. They were married in 1951. Jeanne and Larry were blessed with two children, Carol Lynn and Russell Edward. Jeanne was employed by the Dallas Independent School district before moving to Plano, Texas where she was employed by the Plano Public Library system. Upon retirement she began volunteering at Plano Senior Care. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Lawrence. Jeanne is survived by sisters, Marilyn Hickman and Vickie Loy; son, Rusty Jones; daughter, Lynn and husband, Travis Blackburn, grandchildren, Jason Blackburn, Laura Lynn and her husband, Zach Niesman, Rachel and her husband, Rob Howard, Joseph Blackburn and his wife, Christy; and six great grandchildren. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the Wildwood Chapel with Dr. Judith Reed officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church of Plano or to the American Cancer Society.
