Jerry Earlene Cook's Obituary
Jerrie Earlene Shackelford Cook, 82, of Lewisville, Texas died on Thursday, February 23, 2023 and went to meet her Savior. She was struggling with her health and was ready to go to her heavenly home. She passed away at home peacefully but unexpectedly.
Jerrie is survived by her husband, James Earl Cook of Lewisville, two sons, Philip Cook, his wife Kristen of Richardson and Chuck Cook, his wife Michelle of Flower Mound, her daughter-in-law Lyn Young Cook of Portland, Tennessee; her brother Wayne Shackelford, his wife Pat of Garland; her 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Jim Cook of Portland, Tennessee.
A twin, Jerrie and her late brother Jack Shackelford, were born on July 18, 1940 to Hurvie Shackelford and Earle Bell Edwards Shackelford in Gainesville (her family lived in Valley View). Her family moved to Garland where she graduated from Garland High School in 1958. She attended and graduated from Draughon’s Business College.
She met her husband, James, at Miller Road Baptist Church in Garland where they were married March 1, 1963. They had three children.
A viewing is planned for family and close friends for Tuesday, March 7th from 10:30am-12pm at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, March 18th at Ridge Pointe Fellowship in Dallas. A celebration of her 60th Wedding Anniversary with James was already planned for that day with her kids, grandkids, great grandkids and extended family. Friends are invited to visit with the family before the service from 10-11am. The memorial service will begin at 11:30am.
