Jimmie Jean Humphreys Gilbert's Obituary
Jimmie Jean Gilbert was born July 22, 1933 to Herman Horace Humphreys and Margaret Josephine Bryan, and passed away March 16, 2018, in Dallas, Texas. Jean was a graduate of North Dallas High School and Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1955 and received her Master of Science in Education from North Texas University. Jean taught the first grade in Dallas and Richardson Independent School Districts until her retirement in May 1993 and was a lifetime member of East Dallas Christian Church. Jean also enjoyed her garden, book and bridge clubs and her many friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Joseph Teagarden Gilbert; daughter, Kristina Lynn Greene; brother, Herman Horace Humphreys of Flower Mound, Texas; brothers-in-law, John Douglas Logan of Grand Prairie, and Karl Martensen; sister-in-law, Gloria Martensen of Dallas, Texas; brother-in-law, Frank Gilbert III; and sister-in-law, Pollyanna Gilbert of Houston, Texas. Jean is survived by her son, Scott Douglas Gilbert; daughter-in-law, Nailya Ibragimova Gilbert; and grandsons, Mason Aleksandr and Jake Austin Gilbert (Dallas); son-in-law, Sean Patrick Greene (Lewisville); and grandson, Kevin Andrew Greene (Dallas); great grandson, Kash Ryder Greene (Little Elm); and grandson, Navy Petty Officer First Class Christopher Joseph Greene (Virginia Beach, Virginia); sister, Margaret Janet Logan of Grand Prairie, Texas; and sister-in-law Anita Nolen Humphreys, Flower Mound, Texas; and numerous great nieces and nephews. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Restland Funeral Home. Please stop by the reception desk and the funeral home staff will escort you to state rooms C-D.The service will be at 12:30 pm Friday, March 23, 2018 at Restland Memorial Park in the Wildwood Chapel with Rev. Deborah Morgan-Stokes of East Dallas Christian Church officiating. Following the service, there will be a short procession to the Garden of Faith for a brief committal service.Arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home located at 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243.
